(Atlanta, GA) January 30, 2018 One of Atlanta’s premier international musical events, The Atlanta Jewish Music Festival (AJMF) , returns for its ninth year with a diverse musical lineup curated to please audiences of all ages, backgrounds and affiliations, including Jews and non-Jews. The three weekend festival will run March 8-25 in various locations throughout metro Atlanta. AJMF is the largest Jewish music festival in the South and is known for introducing the community to unique musical acts featuring world music, rock, hip hop, jazz and more. This year’s festival includes fresh musical talent, returning favorites and a bevy of international artists sure to penetrate the soul of music listeners. “I can’t think of a more interesting 100 hours in AJMF history than this Spring Festival’s Opening Weekend,” said AJMF Executive Director Russell Gottschalk. “We have multiple artists performing Yiddish classics, a new-school Yemenite funk band, Grammy-award winning folk singer/songwriter, two Shabbat Services, and one awesome new collaboration with the Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) to debut Gil Weinberg’s music playing robot, Shimon.” AJMF9 “High Notes” include: AJMF’s partnership with City Winery broadens to 4 featured events/performers: Opening Night (March 8 featuring Tsvey Brider and Beyond the Pale), Marc Cohn (March 10-11), Joshua Radin (March 15), ATL Collective presents Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” (March 24, two shows). In addition to the new ASF partnership, AJMF is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Atlanta Jewish Teen Initiative (AJTI also known as JumpSpark) to co-create a Teen Track lead by AJMF board alumni Sammy Rosenbaum. Visiting singer/songwriter Chana Rothman has the longest artist residency in Spring Festival history with 6 engagements: Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) Preschool, Venkman’s, Epstein School, Temple Sinai, URJ/NFTY, InterfaithFamily Atlanta, and a congregation yet to be determined. AJMF is excited to continue its collaboration with ATL Collective (two shows of Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” at City Winery), the annual Teen Battle of the Bands (at Smith’s Olde Bar) and numerous Jewish Atlanta program partners including, but not limited to, Ahavath Achim Synagogue, Congregation Bet Haverim, Davis Academy, The Epstein School, Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, Temple Sinai, The Temple, and The Weber School.
