Friends of Scouting and the Longhorn Council

The Longhorn Council serves as the backbone for over 800 Cub Scout Packs, Scout BSA Troops, and other Scouting units to deliver quality Scouting experiences to over 30,000 youth each year. This is done primarily through direct support to the dedicated army of 10,000 adult volunteers. The Longhorn Council operates 3 full service summer camps, several High Adventure specialty camps, 4 properties for training and weekend activities, and two Council Service Centers and provides families with 4 Scout Shops.

The Longhorn Council serves to protect your child through the Youth Protection System: background checks, abuse prevention training, certification, safety and risk management reviews.

Each adult leader and scouting family is protected by General Liability Insurance and Accident and Sickness Insurance provided by the council. The Council protects the integrity of the Scouting experience with adult leader training, advancement records, and program quality controls.

Your Friends of Scouting gift is the largest single source of annual operating revenue for the Council. Through your gift, camping subsidies are provided. The free use of facilities is provided. And, new construction and equipment is routinely provided for.

Without your assistance through a sustainable annual gift, the Scouting program would cease to function properly.

Please make your contribution or pledge of support today. Every family doing what they can, large or small is appreciated.

Consider making a sustaining / recurring gift. This is the most cost efficient method of providing your financial support while allowing the Council to do reliable planning for the future.
